Join the CES PTA

Now that August is here it’s time to renew your PTA memberships. Our goal each year is to have 100% memberships – that means a membership for each student, staff and faculty member at CES. If you have more than one student at CES please consider purchasing enough memberships to represent each student. Anyone can be a PTA member; parents, students, grandparents, aunts/uncles, and even neighbors. Becoming a member of the PTA does not mean we will hound you for volunteering in the health room nor does it mean you are obligated to attend the general membership meetings, but it will help you stay connected to the PTA throughout the school year. The membership roster is how we build our email data base each year. Stephanie McGavic is our membership chair; drop her an email if you have any questions: membership@mycespta.org.

Click on the below link to print a copy of the membership form and send it in with your child.  You can also join online through our website.

PTA Executive Board and Volunteer Signups

Looking for a way to become more involved at CES? Serving on The CES PTA is a wonderful way to help our students, teachers and school! A form will be sent home soon in your child’s take home folder asking for nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer for the 2018-2019 PTA Executive Board. A list of responsibilities for each position will be provided on the back of the nomination form. If you or someone you know is interested in serving in one of the four positions, please fill out the form being sent home with your student or the one below and send it back in with your child. Our Nominating Committee will contact you concerning your interest. We look forward to hearing from you.

If you like serving and helping our students, teachers and school the CES PTA Board might be for you.  There are position other than the Executive Board that you can serve on.  The CES PTA helps provided volunteers for the health room and cafeteria, run the All Pro Dad and Muffins with Mom events, manages the Dragon Dash and Fair in the Lair and so much more.  If you are interested in serving in one of the many positions on the CES PTA board please fill out the PTA Volunteer form below and return it to the school.

Message from Mr. Salyer

The Little Dragon Family,

For those who haven’t heard, at the January 25th school board meeting the interim title was removed, and I was named the official Principal of Collierville Elementary School. I do not over exaggerate when I say that besides marrying my wife and adopting my girls, this was one of the greatest moments of my life. I don’t say those words because I got a job I wanted, but rather that it means I am permanently part of the family that I have come to love. What makes this school great isn’t the classrooms, technology, activities, or accolades that we earn, but rather the families that make the Collierville Elementary the best. Thank you for all your support up to now and into the future.

We have started our social media campaign to build the CES Hall of Fame! Our goal is to fill the wall going into the cafeteria from the main part of the building with people who went to CES and have gone on to do something great. We want our students to see people who were where they are now and went on to achieve their dreams to remind them that they too can do what they set their mind to. The form to submit names is on our school website, Twitter, and PTA Facebook account. Please help us spread the word!

As is typical for this time of year, we have some students that are dealing with colds, flu, and fever. If your child is sick, we ask that you please keep them home to help us keep our school as germ free as possible. This year, the state of Tennessee Department of Education decided that any student who is out of school for ten percent of the school year for any reason (excused or unexcused) would be classified as chronically absent. We still want you to keep your child home when they are sick, but we ask you make an extra effort to make sure that when your child is healthy, they are here at school. For more information on chronic absenteeism, please go to https://www.tn.gov/education/student-support/chronic-absenteeism.html.

I am always a phone call or email away. I try to frequently post and share some of the great things going on at school on the CES Twitter account. You can follow us at @CESLittleDragon.

Every Dragon. Every Day.
